“A self-esteem issue doesn’t change whether you’re considered beautiful or not because it’s about what’s inside you,”
-Iman
Growing up, I had a self-esteem issue that became more problematic during my teenage years. I didn’t like the way I looked. What I didn’t know was my self esteem issues were rooted from the inside. It took me a while to get to know myself and truly understand how to build my self esteem. Although many people thought I was beautiful, I did not think so and I did not feel it. The first thing I had to do was learn how to accept myself how I was. Instead of continuing to improve my outside appearance, I worked on accepting me as I was and working on making my inside stronger. Little by little, I learned self acceptance and with that came self confidence.
You may never encounter self esteem issues but I hope that if you cross paths with someone who does, you are able to shed the light on them and let them know, the issue is internal first. It is what they feel inside that is making them projcect it on their outside appearance.
