This is something that my group of females discuss quite too often and I must admit I am on the scared of turning 30 and being single side. As many benefits as there may be to being 30 and single, how different is it from what I am able to do in my 20s? I don’t think the benefits compare to what I really want out of life, which is to share of all my “goodness” and all I have to offer with my husband and children. Who want’s to be running around after a 15 year old at the age of 50? Not I. Plus I would like for all my kids to be out of the house by the time I’m 55 and ready to enjoy the last quarter of my life (expected expiration date being 80 yrs old lol).

Ohhhhhhh girl, I don’t think it’s the big 3-0 that scares people, rather the idea of getting OLD. Whether it be 20, 25, 30, 40 – it’s all the same. The fear of getting old.

Who knew that there would ever be a day that I would be living on my own and not having to submit a paper to my professor. And God forbid that I have my own car and my own bills to pay, lead alone another person to mind. I think it’s a mind state and we bring it on ourselves. You know at this age you’re suppose to have x, then at this age you’re suppose to have y, and at the end of it all you’re suppose to have x, y, z.

It’s an expectation we put on ourselves as motivated, determined, young, individuals. The single part, well I think that’s just another social pressure that as a woman you’re suppose to be having kids and well you can’t really do that without a significant other nor when you’re heading into your 40′s. So… probably to be expanded upon in another post LOL.

Definitely understandable, I feel the same way. However the question I guess is, what happens if those things don’t happen by the time you turn 30? Will you still be sad at the fact that they haven’t come true? Will you look forward to your 30′s regardless if you are single?

LOL I agree, it has to be expanded on, I feel that there is so much there, hence my girlfriend wanting to do a whole PROJECT. There is a fear of aging altogether but I have noticed that in women especially nearing late 20′s its the fear of turning 30 and somehow that being associated with being old. Then the pressure of what you should have accomplished at that age. *sigh* I used to be scared of being 30 and single and then I met a bunch of friends who turned 30 and I feel that they are at a more understanding stage in their lives, more comfortable in their skin at that age.

Great project! Hopefully it makes people feel better about things. I’m in my 30′s and have never been married or had kids. And my parents had me when they were 25. So I’m waaaaay behind. Which makes me sad. Half of me wishes I already had kids. However, if I did have kids now, I’d probably be wishing I’d gotten to enjoy my 20′s and 30′s unencumbered with the responsibility of taking care of kids. So, it’s all how you look at things.
