Well look at Precious…I mean REALLY look at Precious. Precious to me represents that demographic that we as a society choose to ignore and turn a blind eye to. As someone that has worked with the marginalised community in the GTA and has been part of it herself I am all too familiar with the neglect that we give to those that dont fit our standards of what a person should, look, or sound like. What I learned in the years I have been working with these voiceless individuals is that there is something inside each and every single one of them that just needs to be PUSHed forward into the light. Like those wings behind Precious they just need to PUSH out of those cocoons and spread them, let them dry before they take off and soar. To me Precious represents hope, courage and the love and respect of these lives we were given and take for granted sometimes. Despite the reocurring nightmares Precious lived through her whole life she knew that taking her life was wrong, despite the way those babies came into her life she never thought about ridding herself of them. She respected the right to live, as horrible and dark as that existence was.

Precious is anything that inspires me to be better! Whether pleasurable, painful, fun or sad, I have so many precious memories, events, people and places that have made me into the woman I am now and that constantly transform me. Too often, we take for granted the things that ground us; the things in which we built our foundation on; the people that gave that loving look, encouraging touch or words that conciously or subconciously made us into who we are. I have been priviledged to have many precious moments happen in my life that they are too numerous to count. I’m just happy that GOD allows me to remember them, honour them, live by them and cherish them.

Precious is just that. Precious. Reminds us of the things we forget, the things we should never forget, the things we should hold dear, and that at the end of the day, everything and everyone is precious. No one is more important than another being. We are all important, and we all have a purpose. So let’s love, laugh, learn and be one with others.

Precious to me are all the things we take for granted, the things that are most important that sometimes we forget to appreciate. Something as simple as our vision, our ability to walk, to speak, to be able to live life in a “healthy” state where we shape our future and influence the ones around us in a better way.

Precious to me is something that I cannot fathom but strive to learn from and realize that something needs to be done and I shouldn’t always live in my bubble.

To me, Precious represents; pain, passion, victory, defeat, anger, love, hate, and all the above. The emotions she exudes are the same ones we tend to steer away from in others because in facing theirs, we’re usually forced to face our own. And for a lot of us, that can be a very painful task. Precious is the journey of surviving trials and tribulations and finding the strength to make peace with emotional and physical scars. She represents the truth. And while the truth doesn’t always feel good at first, accepting it is necessary in order for it to become the key to mental freedom. Precious is a reminder to us that life is not to be taken for granted. The things we think we’re entitled to such as stability, love, and support, are not always guaranteed. In life, the people we love will hurt us. The ones we depend on will leave us. And the ones we trust will abuse us. But that doesn’t mean we’re to give up. It just means our desire to live has to cancel out our desire to die. Precious is a perfect example of the beauty and power of the human spirit and how we, not our circumstances, are the masters of our own ships and define our own destinies.

Precious to me is my son and the time that i will have with him. God has trusted me with one of his children and it is up to me to love and care for him. I pray that i will see him grow and have his dreams realized. That is what is most precious to me.

What is Precious to me is TIME. There is never enough time in a day to do all that we want to do so it is so important to embrace the time we have with all the important people around us, and use the precious time that is given to us in each day to do something good for not only ourselves but more imporantly to use the time that is so precious to help others and reach out to the people around us. We all need to really appreciate the time we have until the day it runs out.

The most precious thing to me in this world is not a thing but a person. That person being Madina my light, my joy, my mother. I know must people can say wonderful things about their mothers but honestly speaking I get moved to tears just by the thought of my mother. An immigrant woman coming from a war torn country, coming to this country not being able to speak the language, understand the culture and starting her life from the bottom up. A woman who’s accomplishments today include raising 9 wonderful, hard working children that contribute something positive to our society. Being able to speaks 4 languages fluently, holds 2 university degrees, her own business and above all still maintaining to be the kindest, most beautiful soul you will ever meet.

Often strangers that I have never met before stop me on the streets to tell me the impact my mother had on their life and what a joy it has been to know my mother. This always makes me smile from ear to ear; beaming and so proud that is the woman who I call mother. I have never loved a human being the way I love her, and I have never been more grateful to God for choosing me to be her daughter. So when I saw your question on what’s precious to me in my life, it was a no brainer….MY MOTHER! She’s so precious!

My loved ones are precious to me. My family, and friends that have been there from the beginning are precious. They represent a deep sense of unconditional love. We are there for each other through thick and thin and this will never falter. They will never fade, and we just grow closer everyday. Even loved ones, young and old both, that have passed are precious to me because their memories continue to live on in my heart.

With everything going on in this world, what is precious to me is hope. Even in the saddest of circumstances, just a shred of hope (that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel) can help kick start a change (and eventually bring you out of dreary circumstances).

I attended a conference recently and one presenter asked, “What gives you hope in this world?”

We had just been showed the environmental destruction created by industries and the many people in developing countries who don’t even have access to enough food or clean water supply (it was stated that the world has had enough food to feed everyone since the 1970s but obviously, the distribution of food hasn’t been equal in all countries).

So what gave me hope? It was people that stood up and decided, life shouldn’t be like this. We don’t have to give up and let things spiral out of control. We can reverse the trend and stand up.

And for me, that is what is precious. Hope is precious. When you’ve lost all hope (of anything) then what is there to fight for, what is there to live for? Hope helps us believe that we can survive, and we will survive.

What is PRECIOUS to me?…the resilence of the human spirit, to start over fresh each day! To wake up and leave the past in the past and try something new, to have an ah ha moment, to think in a different way and to choose to live a different life…. a life different than the way you might have been raised to think life has to be lived. Now that is courage!

Precious to me is the the look of happiness, content and safety a child has when they light up when their mom walks in the room. Children are so innoncent and they exemplify how simple and endearing love is before the chaos of life blossoms into adulthood. That’s what precious means to me.
