The purpose of learning is growth, and our minds, unlike our bodies, can continue growing as long as we live. Mortimer Adler
I am on a mission to self-renewal, my first step was running, a way to introduce a healthy habit to my lifestyle. While running this weekend, I thought about step two, which is learning. It occurred to me that there were some things I am good at, that could grow into things I am better at, if I took the time to learn more on the subject and educate myself. It can be anything from a course you have been meaning to take but have been procrastinating on. It can be attending a lecture, or 1 day course about job training. Two things that are crucial in the self-renewal process is – 1- identify what you want to get done , and 2- get it done by any means.
Remember that everyone has a different path to self- renewal, I am by no means telling you to follow my steps, if they work for you GREAT ! If not don’t be scared to create your own steps to self-renewal.
I have decided to sign up for two courses in the fall, I always felt that I should further my education by taking some courses here and there. As well, I would like to get more involved in non for profit work, perhaps sitting on a board. I am looking into taking some board training courses to better understand the landscape of board of directors.
That sums up my step 2, I am really excited about this self-renewal process because I think of the steps as they come. I find that its more effective that way, because I am better able to judge how they fit into my life on a regular basis and the long-term positive effect they will have.
