While in NYC on my last trip, a friend of mine took me to The High Line, which is a New York City Park. The whole park is build on a raised 1930s freight rail structure located on the West Side of Manhattan. Its a really beautiful and peaceful view covering from Gansevoort to 20th Street, the park first opened in summer 2009.

It the rail structure was originally created to remove dangerous freight trains from Manhattan’s streets and delivered produce and meats to factories and warehouses. The last train to go on this railway was in 1980, and carried a trainload of frozen meat, I guess it makes sense as it is called the “meatpacking district”.

Here are a few of the pics I took there, it was beautiful and also had all sorts of cool art vendors. While I was there I also found out that The High Line is currently working on building section 2 and implementing new features. If you get a chance, make sure to check it out. I miss New York already, but lucky for us we will be having a guest blogger from NYC and she is AWESOME ! Can’t wait til you meet her.
