Numbing the pain will only make it go away temporarily, and will not solve the problem as we know it. What happens when numbing is all we seem to do. We’ve seen tons of people try to “deal” with their problems this way, indulging in alcohol, drugs anything to make the pain go away.

A friend of mine is going through a hard time right now, and I always worry about her. She walks around with a strong exterior but I know inside she is hurt. She thinks that she has to keep up the strong appearance for others, but I know its killing her inside.  When I ask how she is doing and keeping up, same answer “I’m just numbing it”. I can only advise her of the consequences of numbing yourself not to feel, but she makes her own decisions.

I know I have played this charade of numbing, and let me tell you, once the numbing wears off the pain is that much stronger.
