My name is Camille Jones CLU, (Chartered Life Underwriter) and I want to share my story with you…

My mother always said, “Camille take care of three things: your health, your credit and your investments.” So I did, despite not understanding what investing meant. Nevertheless, I followed her advice.  All I knew was, come tax season, I would get a great return from my RRSP contributions and school tuition. Can you say ‘YORKDALE!’ I wasn’t one to use a ‘map’ or ‘plan’; I was more the ‘whatever happens happens’ type. Luckily, thanks to my mom, I had the basics down. In any case, I had much to learn in respects to my finances. And I did!  Now, when I gaze into my never-ending closet, I shake my head. If I only knew the opportunities and VALUE of those tax returns, I’d have less sweaters collecting dust in my closet and more invested towards my financial goals. But shoulda, woulda, coulda knowing is only half the battle; I’m on my way to financial freedom because I now have a visual of success and a roadmap to get there.

One of my goals in life was to be a mentor; ideally to help stop the violence plaguing our youth. I knew I was a great mentor from 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. but the problem was the dangerous neighbourhoods the children lived in I understood that stopping vicious cycles of violence was only achieved by stopping vicious cycles of poverty.

Parents are a child’s greatest teacher. Knowing this, I decided to teach parents about money instead of mentoring children. As parents, we need to learn how to pay ourselves first, add personal value to money and then pay it forward within our family and circle of influences. My goal is to teach parents how to manage money and to create roadmaps, so that future generations can make wise decisions with a clear vision and most importantly, add value to the their hard earned money.

This is a small part of my story. I will share more of my experiences with you in the next months to come; stay tuned. For now, I’d like to officially re-introduce myself…..
