Let’s be real; some products are not worth the hype. So, for me, when a huge price tag is slapped on it, the presentation better be killer. It’s a pity when big companies spend tons of money on marketing and PR and their brand end up tainted by terrible customer service.
My friend desperately wanted to change up her look but didn’t want to spend serious time every day. I suggested my favorite combo: blush and lipstick. A perfect pink nude coupled with a pink blush gives the impression “I got my beauty sleep topped with oatmeal and berries for breakfast”.
We decided to go to Holt Renfrew on a quest to find her perfect combo. We walked by several counters but no one sold their brand. Occasionally, a sales associate would break from her rambling about her night escapade to ask, “Do you need anything?” Um, of course I do.
After losing all hope, we arrived at Burberry. The lovely associate, who was swamped helping customers, looked over, smiled and said ‘Hi.’ We waited for her ten minutes and over heard some of her awesome tips. She totally made up for the poor service we received at the other counters and scored with her knowledge on blush and lipstick application.
Follow these steps to finding your nude shade:
Pick a shade that is a shade lighter than your lip colour. Highlight your skin tone and not the redness. On a day you feel you look a little blotchy, stick with neutral nudes because they don’t attract the redness or off tone of the skin and even out your complexion. Chose a pink undertone or beige; pink will give a rosier look and beige will give a sun kissed glow.
Next up: blush. For a blushing beauty look, make sure that the undertone of your lipstick is similar with the blush. Even though a peachy blush is great for golden tones, don’t mix it with a pink under toned lipstick; that’s a bigger no-no than Britney Spears letting Justin Timberlake go. Your blush will pop if it complements your lipstick. The easiest way to pick your combo is to lay them side-by-side. Slap the lipstick on your hand and dust a bit of blush next to it. Do they blend? If yes, run to the register and get cashed out cause you are good to go.
