You might not be able to see the stars at night living in Toronto because of light pollution, but you can definitely catch them on stage.
Toronto is a major hub for music, culture, and artists on tour in North America surely rock a stage in Toronto. It’s a great city and also situated conveniently in the middle of other cities that happen to be replete with culture!
Listed below are 5 reasons not to complain about being bored this summer – plenty of options to do with your boyfriend or friends. Next week I’ll list more music festivals happening around town and near by.
The following festivals are happening right here in our own backyard:
- Black Creek Summer Music Festival featuring performances by Placido Domingo, James Taylor, Lionel Richie and Castleton Festival Orchestra. This is a great mix of genres and the shows span over a few weeks. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy this open air festival.
- Canada Day Celebration Downsview Park featuring performances by The Tragically Hip, Weezer, Broken Social Scene, Hey Rossetta! and Buck 65. This one day outdoor festival is sure to be a great way to spend the long weekend!
- NXNE featuring performances by Stars, Twin Shadow, Devo, Deerhoof, The Dodos, Art Brut, The Most Serene Republic, Anti-Flag and hundreds of other bands. This is Toronto’s biggest indie music festival and one great week to be in the city! The festival takes place from June 13 – 19, 2011.
- TD Canada Trust Toronto Jazz Festival featuring performances by Aretha Franklin, Los Lonely Boys, Los Lobos, The Roots and Bootsy Collins. This festival takes place June 23 to July 3.
- Edgefest featuring performances by Rise Against, A Perfect Circle, The Weakerthans, Tokyo Police Club, The Arkells, Hollerado. This one-day outdoor concert takes place on Saturday July 9, 2011 at Downsview Park
