Western Canada’s largest adult trade show is making its way through Edmonton and promises to educate, entertain and inspire its guests with everything from steamy fire shows to provocative seminars.
MC and organizer of the Taboo Naughty but Nice Show, Master Sarah Moanies spills the beans on what the sex show is all about.
For those who don’t know, what is the Taboo Naughty but Nice Show?
The show is a creative forum for people from all walks of life to come and explore their curiosities and fulfill their hearts’ desires. It’s an opportunity for couples to reconnect and to perhaps learn new things in the boudoir.
What can guests expect from this year’s show?
Every year we want to continue to add new entertainment, vendors and boutique shopping opportunities. We’re joined by an AVN Award winning adult film star Monique Alexander. We’ve got fire performances by Firestorm Performance Troupe as our headlining act and we’ve got more grand prizes than we’ve ever given away, like an all inclusive trip for two to Jamaica.
Thursday night is Ladies Night where ladies get in two for one. Friday night is our date night-the first twenty couples through the door receive a gift certificate for two to The Old Spaghetti Factory. And Saturday night, if you don a toga you’ll receive $5 off admission.
Have you received any negative backlash from the community?
I think the North American perspective towards sex is still quite conservative. The show itself comes with a stigma as being raunchy and “red light”. That is not the case at all. We advocate safe sex consensual practices and provocative and entertaining seminars all weekend long. As well, we provide entertainment and the most unique shopping plethora of technology out there. There’s a little bit of something for everyone regardless if your flavor is vanilla or if you like to go as far as Neapolitan with sprinkles on top.
What changes have you seen in the Taboo shows from year to year?
We’re seeing the conservative North Americans loosening up a bit. Over the last eleven years, the show has not only grown, but it also has more members from other communities. It’s really nice to see different people gathered together in an environment where they’re comfortable in their own sexuality and where tolerance is prevalent.
What is your favorite part of the show?
It’s really hard to try and narrow it down. I like all the parts… the entertainment, the seminars. I love that there’s an opportunity for couples to learn about beginner’s tantra for sex. We’ve also got an option for sexual health and sexuality throughout the lifespan – what to expect when you’re forty, fifty, and into your golden years. The more we communicate about [sex], the more awareness, acceptance, tolerance, and hopefully safe practices will occur.
Finally, how do you keep variety in your sex life?
It is about communication. If you have a high level of communication with your partner, the sky’s the limit and that allows for variety and exploring.
BHD will be at the Taboo Naughty but Nice Show this weekend. Plan your weekend at www.tabooshow.com. Your partner will thank you.
