Who we are… A Work of Heart is a social enterprise that sells artwork and uses a portion of the proceeds to build schools and daycares in Kenya. Most of the pieces I paint are of wildlife and inspired by an actual photograph, but I accept donated pieces from other artists and thus there is no one style which defines A Work of Heart. Anyone who wants to make a difference and contribute to a good cause can be involved in one aspect or another.
Why I started… I met a little girl in Kenya that I wanted to sponsor. I sold a piece of art and used the money I made to send her to school for one year- so little can go such a long way. I loved that my art not only sold, but helped someone else. The concept snowballed from there. Since then I have painted and sold many pieces of art. I have held an art show and raised over $5,000 in funds for building projects in Kenya, I created and grew A Work of Heart’s social media presence and have gotten local Toronto artists involved. With each success and milestone I keep planning bigger goals and hope to achieve larger successes in the future!
