I am a huge Roberto Cavalli fan, I think he captures the beauty and essence of being a woman through his collections.  To celebrate his 40th Anniversary Roberto Cavalli is putting out a 200 page book with eye popping images taken by photographers  Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and Fabien Baron as creative director. This book essentially captures 40 years of magnificent clothing, beauty all from Cavalli’s interpretation of today’s women. Some of the models in the book happen to be some of the most gorgeous women: Jennifer Lopez, Cindy Crawford, Heidi Klum, Gisele Bündche, Karolina Kurkova to name a few.

These images are hot and sexy to say the least, take a look below. Read more…

I just finished reading The Zahir by Paulo Coelho  and it was such a wonderful read. I read a lot of books but not many that make me reflect on my life, and how to improve. I must first begin by saying Paulo Coelho is by far one of my favourite authors, the way he uses words to paint pictures is one of a kind. You really feel as though you are part of the story. I would love to be able to write such beautiful novels one day.

The Zahir  was written in 2005, Paulo Coelho is a Brazilian writer and first wrote this book in Portuguese. The book was then translated to 44 languages ! This book like The Alchemist, another one of the books Paulo Coelho wrote that is my favourite, revolves around pilgrimage, love, loosing love and obsession over love.  As I was reading the book, I felt the book was about him, and his life. Then by searching online, I realized that it was indeed an autobiography that was intended to be fiction.

I have learned so much in this book and want to share all my thoughts. I don’t want to make this post too long either, so I will continue the rest in another post ! Check out my first thoughts on the book below.

This book was one of my favourites, I went back to it last night, just to look at all the sections that inspired me in the book.  Here are some of the passages that impacted me when I first read it. If you haven’t read it yet, pick it up before the movie is released.

“La Dolce Vita”
Elizabeth Gilbert

“There is so much about my fate that I cannot control, but other things do fall under the jurisdiction. I can decide how I spend my time, whom I interact with, whom I share my body and life and money and energy with. I can select what I can read and eat and study. I can choose how I’m going to regard unfortunate circumstances in my life-whether I will see them as curses or opportunities. I can choose my words and the tone of voice in which I speak to others. And most of all, I can choose my thoughts.”
Elizabeth Gilbert (Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman’s Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia)

Nicole Williams

In October, I had the pleasure of reading  “Girl On Top” by Nicole Williams and doing a review. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, as it could not have come at a better time. I was looking for inspiration in taking my career to the next level. That’s exactly what I found in this book, Nicole Williams shares a multitude of dating rules turned into career rules.  I would recommend this book to any woman who is ambitious about her career, and looking for inspiration on how to climb the corporate later while staying true to herself in the process. She is a best-selling author, a career expert and surely an ambition career minded woman.

Thursday, I will have the pleasure to interview Nicole Williams and get a bit more insight about her, and her thoughts behind writing the book. She also has an amazing blog at www.nicolewilliams.com

Do you have any questions related to your career you would like me to ask Nicole Williams? Let me know and I will ask them.

One of my favorite quotes from her is:

“Your boss doesn’t want a clone or a yes-girl.”

~Nicole Williams, Girl On Top
