I have been hearing a lot about Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, one of my girlfriends keeps bragging about it. This weekend while in Starbucks, I noticed the album was there on sale. I did the impulse purchase thing and picked it up. I don’t remember the last time I bought music like that, just because my friend said it was good. Anywho, got home put it in and fell in love with the sounds I was hearing. I felt like I stepped into a time machine when I was listening to it, it reminds me of how amazing and raw soul music was. Just about great instruments, and a powerful voice. Ok, so I must admit — this next mix isn’t exactly fresh off the press. In fact, this mixtape was created by a fellow DJ friend (who chose to remain nameless) back in ‘05.
