This past weekend was G20 in Toronto, I stayed away from the core of downtown as instructed. I didn’t even turn on the news when I heard all of these riots were going on, until this morning. I logged onto my Facebook and saw these videos posted, and had to ask myself What was really going on? Is this really possible? Is this the freedom they speak about. Most importantly, what now? Pictures tell a thousand words, I will let you be the judge. What do you think of this footage?

By no means am I a reporter, I just felt moved by this footage and think everyone should see it.

One of our readers Dian aka Cocktail Deeva is taking part in Shopper’s Drug Mart – Weekend to end women’s cancers, which takes place September 11-12th, 2010. All the proceeds from this weekend will go to benefit the Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. When I saw Dian tweet about this, I really wanted to support her and help her spread the word. Thousands of people will be out that weekend raising money for various cancers that affect women.

These efforts will help to assist in bringing an end and further research to breast cancer and gynecologic cancers, diseases that one in seven Canadian women will be diagnosed with in her lifetime. That is staggering, and we must do our part to help in any way we can. Read more…

Last week I was shopping at a bookstore.  I always hit the same sections to see what’s new and to get ideas for my reading list.  I was looking around in the Self-Help section.  I looked down and saw this little paperback book called Acts of Kindness by Adam Mayers.  I read the backcover and found out it was written by the editor for thestar.com.  It’s a collection of local Act of Kindness stories from the Toronto Star readers.  I read a few of the stories quickly in the book.  I couldn’t believe that I did not hear of this column sooner.  It just proves that Toronto isn’t a cold heartless city but the opposite.  You can submit stories and check out their webpage at http://www.thestar.com/kindness Read more…

This evening I attended The RACHEL Rachel Roy and Rachel Roy Signature collections launch party at The Bay, here in Toronto. As suspected, I was definitely not disappointed– if anything, I was a tad blown away.

The Rachel Roy Signature, which retails from $225-$775.

This line is total sophistication with a hint of elegance.
All pieces were quite structured with subtle embellishments. Read more…
